Stradey Set for Cup Sell-Out
Scarlets chiefs have reported a roaring trade in tickets for the region's biggest game of the season.Stradey Park's Heineken Cup quarter-final showdown against reigning European champions Munster is heading for a sell-out, they said.
The Llanelli outfit's communication manager, Graeme Gillespie, said more staff had even been taken on to cope with demand."When I arrived at about 10am on Monday the car park was packed," he said."People were parking on both sides of the road."It's been all hands to the pump, and with extra people taking shifts on the telephones - everyone's been mucking in."I haven't been here that long - since last summer, actually - but it's the busiest I've seen it, so it's looking good."Tickets for the clash on Friday, March 30, went on sale to season ticket holders two weeks ago. They were allowed to buy just one ticket each. But on Monday season ticket holders were allowed to buy one more ticket each. And on Monday the remaining tickets go on general sale - "subject to attendance at Stradey Park this season and subject to availability", according to the club website. However, not too many tickets are left with several days remaining for season ticket holders to take up their full allocation."Obviously, we'd like to think we could sell out a game like this and we are well on the way to doing that," said Mr Gillespie."Only the east and west terraces are left - so that's standing room at either end of the ground."Tickets are on sale at Stradey Park or by calling the ticket office on 0871 871 8088. Tickets will not be available online.
