Operation Beagle – we need your help

'Operation Beagle' is a multi-agency approach to tackling scrap metal thefts in Carmarthenshire.

An increase in the demand for metals such as copper and lead has led to a rise in thefts. On average there are approximately 26 metal theft crimes each month ranging from the theft of copper (cables, piping, wiring and tanks), lead, fencing, railings, gates, drain covers, catalytic converters to scrap vehicles.

Partners include Dyfed-Powys Police, Carmarthenshire County Council, Environment Agency Wales, and the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The aim is to target illegal waste carriers and scrap metal collectors as well as reduce the opportunity for thieves to sell on or dispose of stolen metal items by working with local scrap merchants to ensure they comply with the law and identify potential thieves.

Who's stealing it? Who's storing it? Where does it end up?

You can help by staying extra vigilant and by reporting any suspicious behaviour to the police including vehicle registration numbers and descriptions of individuals involved.

If an incident is ongoing please call 999 or in a non-emergency call 101. You can also call Crimestoppers Wales anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Remember: Make sure scrap metal is not left on display – please lock it away.

Ymgyrch Beagle - mae angen eich help chi arnom ni

Ymagwedd amlasiantaeth at fynd i'r afael ag achosion o ddwyn metel sgrap yn Sir Gaerfyrddin yw 'Ymgyrch Beagle'.

Mae cynnydd yn y galw am fetelau fel copr a phlwm wedi arwain at gynnydd mewn lladradau. Ar gyfartaledd mae tua 26 o achosion o fetel sgrap yn cael ei ddwyn yn y sir yn fisol, ac mae'r rheiny'n cynnwys dwyn copr (ceblau, pibellau, gwifrau a thanciau), plwm, ffensys, rheiliau, gatiau, cloriau draeniau, trawsnewidyddion catalytig, a cherbydau sgrap.

Mae'r partneriaid yn yr ymgyrch yn cynnwys Heddlu Dyfed-Powys, Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin, Asiantaeth yr Amgylchedd Cymru, a Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Canolbarth a Gorllewin Cymru.

Y nod yw targedu cludwyr gwastraff a chasglwyr metel sgrap anghyfreithlon, yn ogystal â chyfyngu ar y cyfleoedd sydd gan ladron i werthu neu waredu eitemau metel sydd wedi'u dwyn, a hynny drwy weithio gyda masnachwyr sgrap yn lleol i sicrhau eu bod yn cydymffurfio â'r gyfraith ac i glustnodi lladron posibl.

Pwy sy'n ei ddwyn? Pwy sy'n ei storio? I ble mae'r metel yn mynd yn y diwedd?

Gallwch helpu drwy barhau i fod yn hynod wyliadwrus a thrwy roi gwybod i'r Heddlu am unrhyw ymddygiad amheus, yn cynnwys rhifau cofrestru ceir a disgrifiadau o'r unigolion dan sylw.

Ffoniwch 999 os yw'r drosedd yn digwydd ar y pryd neu ffoniwch 101 os nad yw'n argyfwng. Hefyd, gallwch chi ffonio Taclo'r Tacle Cymru yn ddi-enw - 0800 555 111.

Cofiwch:  Gofalwch fod metel sgrap o'r golwg a than glo bob tro.
