  • Mike Spudly - Llanelli's Angriest Man

    Mike Spudly Llanelli's Angriest Man

Your Llanelli's very own Mr Angry, he's not happy with anything and vents his spleen by writing for us.

You might like his views, you might not, but he's just too brassed off with life to care.  To be honest you're better off not taking Mike's views too seriously.  Learn to smile and love life a bit, because he cant!

He is notable however in being the first published Mr Angry in Llanelli, all others are imitators...  The fact that there are others he finds to be (you guessed it) really annoying.

  • Democracy Watch with Jacqui Thompson

jacqui thompsonHi, I'm Jacqui Thompson living up in the north east of our county, near Llanwrda.

For the past three years or so I've been writing a blog. I cast a critical eye over Carmarthenshire County Council and try and look underneath the tight fitting lid of our local government.

As is the nature of a blog, the opinions expressed are my own and I am not affiliated to any political group or party, but I hope I've raised a bit of interest in the goings on at County Hall where decisions are made which affect every aspect of your daily life, and encouraged a few more to take to their keyboards.

  • Cooking with Paolo

    paolo the chef

Paolo is the Project Officer with the Llanelli Multicultural Network.

Though not a trained chef, Paolo owned and ran a catering business in West London for several years.

Two of his passions are travel and food. He has lived in India and travelled to many countries in Europe and the Middle East, all the time learning about the cuisine of those countries.

He has a passion for using fresh and interesting ingredients. He teaches cooking to community groups, emphasising how to create tasty, easy to make food on a budget.

Paolo’s long term ambition is to put together a cookery book that combines travel and food, with some of the interesting recipes from his own travels, and some from members of the Multicultural Network from around the World.

  • Standing up for Llanelli with John Jenkins

    john jenkins

    Greetings!

I’m John Jenkins and since June 2004 I have been honoured to have been a Councillor representing my home town on Llanelli Town and Carmarthenshire County Councils.

Having been born, bred, educated and worked all my life in this great Town of ours I am immensely proud to represent our community at a local level.

    I love our Town.

Llanelli people are the most warm, community-spirited, decent and resourceful people that you are likely to meet.

I feel it an incredible privilege to have been afforded the opportunity to represent them on the Council and to try and work to make our Town better for all of us.

That is why I get so frustrated when our Town does not get the service that it deserves from our Authorities.

I also dislike the minority amongst us who let our Town down and destroy the quality of life for the good, decent majority of Llanelli people.

We have a great community here in Llanelli and I hope I can share some observations of where we are going right, where we are going wrong and how we can put wrong things right.

  • Carmarthenshire Wildlife Watch with Darren Harries

otterI am Darren Harries of Llanelli ,I have been into wildlife an nature from a young age.

After many years in the HM forces I have learnt a lot of skills which has lead me to get closer to animals and the wildlife.

After suffering with Testicular Cancer and Depression, I have picked up a camera instead of a rifle. It's funny how we turn back to what we know best when we hit rock bottom and 'Nature Photography' is giving me great joy.

I love getting out doors into the fresh air and seeing the wildlife and nature as we have an abundance here Carmarthenshire and we should all do more to look after and also document it.

People I speak to on my travels are somewhat surprised about what wildlife and nature they have on their doorstep and I love telling them about all the different animals, as I believe that knowledge should be passed on.

Our wildlife is out there for all to see and enjoy, adventure into green spots and you will all see for yourself.

In this column, I will be reporting on all of the different wildlife that I see on my travels around the area.

You can help too by keeping an eye and reporting anything you see to us, just email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Or keep up to date with pics and news by visiting our Facebook page.

I am Miles Lloyd. I was born into a fictional family of three kings and a duke when I was just five years old. Two years later, at the age of four, I started performing stand-up comedy. Now, in the year 2045, I have started to blog and write articles for things and I’ve finally worked out the difference between my arse and my elbow.
