Mae rhaglenni monitro dros gyfnod maith sy'n cael eu cydlynu gan y People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) ac Ymddiriedolaeth Adareg Prydain (BTO) wedi rhoi ar ddeall bod niferoedd draenogod wedi lleihau'n sylweddol dros y ddau ddegawd diwethaf ym Mhrydain (Cyflwr Draenogod Prydain 2011), gan beri bod y rhywogaeth yn cael ei rhestru fel rhywogaeth bwysig iawn yng Nghymru (Deddf yr Amgylchedd Naturiol a Chymunedau Gwledig 2006, Adran 42).

Long-term monitoring programmes coordinated by the People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) and the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) have indicated that hedgehogs have declined markedly within Britain over the last two decades (State of Britain’s Hedgehogs 2011), prompting the species to be listed as a species of principal importance in Wales (NERC Act 2006, Section 42).

Ar ôl bwlch o flynyddoedd lawer mae brithegion y gors wedi eu cofnodi unwaith eto ym Mharc Natur Ynysdawela, ger Brynaman. Yn gynharach eleni gwnaed gwaith yno i reoli'r glaswelltiroedd, a hynny fel cam cyntaf tuag at adfer y cynefin a gwella'r rheolaeth ar y safle dros gyfnod hir. Y bwriad maes o law yw llunio cynllun rheoli ar gyfer y safle.

 
Marsh Fritillaries recorded again at Ynysdawela Nature Park! PDF Print E-mail

After an absence of many years marsh fritillaries were recorded again at Ynysdawela Nature Park, near Brynamman. Management of the grasslands was undertaken there earlier in the year, as a start to restoring the habitat and improve the long-term management of the site, which will have a management plan written for it eventually.

Yn ddiweddar aeth Isabel Macho, y Swyddog Bioamrywiaeth, â thrap gwyfynod i Ysgol Saron. Gyda chymorth ei chydweithiwr, Mat Ridley, dangosodd Isabel i'r disgyblion fod amrywiaeth anferth o wyfynod yn byw ar dir yr ysgol, ond bod y rhan fwyaf ohonynt ynghudd yn ystod y dydd.

Biodiversity officer Isabel Macho took a moth trap to Saron School recently and with the help of colleague Mat Ridley was able to show the pupils the amazing range of moths that occur in the schools ground but mostly hidden away from sight during the day.
