Milk PricesDAIRY farmers deserve a fair price for their milk, Carmarthenshire’s executive board member for rural affairs has said. Cllr Pam Palmer said that fair trade should apply to Carmarthenshire farmers as well as Third World producers. She spoke out as farmers protested at cuts in the price they receive for their milk. Cllr Palmer said: “Carmarthenshire County Council supports Fair Trade and it should certainly extend to our own locally produced food and to support for our farmers. Our dairy farmers are vital to the prosperity of the county.” Council Leader Cllr Kevin Madge said: “We are committed to our farmers in Carmarthenshire and to sustain the jobs they create in the countryside that we are so proud of. We are available to see anyone at any time if there is anything we can do as a council to help.”
