We’re all still proud of Dai Greeneby Jonathan Williams Following Dai Greene disappointment in finishing 4th in the final of the 400m hurdles, fans from Llanelli and around the world have joined his family to offer him their support. Sian Davies, Dai’s girlfriend has told the national media of her pride in how he battled back from a disappointing semi-final performance to almost win bronze. She said: “To be honest I am gutted for him. Fourth place is always the worst place to finish, but after a difficult year with injuries and after that semi-final run, picking himself up and coming fourth in the Olympics – he should be really proud of that. I know I’m extremely proud of him.” “It’s really hard because you know how much is means to the person but you have no control over the outcome,” said the 27-yera-old. “You know the hours that they have put in. You know, for Dai anyway, it’s what they have always wanted, so you know that anything less than first place was going to be disappointing.” “After the year he’s had he should be so proud of what he’s achieved, but I know that’s not going to make it easier for him.” Dai’s father Steve also said: “I am just gutted for him, that’s all. As long as he is happy that he has done the best he can, then I’m happy for him. Other than that, I’m just gutted. “In sport you have got to take the rough with the smooth. We just can’t wait now to see him and give him a hug and say well done for trying.” These are some of messages of support from Dai’s Facebook page.
