Plaid Cymru Llanelli are urging local residents to complete the Hywel Dda consultation questionnaire before it is too late with the deadline date set for Friday 29th October.
Rhydwyn Ifan, Plaid Llanelli Constituency Secretary said:
"This so called consultation by the Hywel Dda Health Board has been supposedly implemented to listen to and act upon the views expressed by the local Community. In that case why hasn’t the Consultation Questionnaire been delivered to every household to enable all residents to express their views and give their opinions?"
"The Hywel Dda Health Board approach seems to underline the fact that they never were seriously interested in the views of the public. If, at this late stage you may not have the time to get hold of a questionnaire then I’d strongly suggest that you send them a letter, saying clearly what you think should happen to our health service".
Sean Rees, Plaid Llanelli Communications Officer added:
"The Questionnaire format is very complex and from studying the document it is clear that Llanelli residents' views have been ignored during the listening and engagement exercise."
"Regarding Emergency Care, we are left with Option A or Option B. However both these options are in favour of the proposals outlined to downgrade and no option truly reflects Llanelli's campaign to save our A+E. Plaid demand an alternative Option C which the overwhelming majority of residents have asked for. That is a fully-fledged A+E unit led by the service of a consultant."
Ruth Price, Plaid Elli Town Councillor added:
" The Community's voice must simply be heard, over 33,000 residents have signed petitions and there have been several demonstrations where residents have said a loud and clear NO to these proposals. Now there is an urgent need for Llanelli residents to fill in the Questionnaire to make sure our voices as a Town are clearly heard by the Hywel Dda Health Board and Welsh Labour Health Minister Lesley Griffiths".
