Valentine’s Day on Saturday will see the usual array of red roses, chocolates and other gifts given as expressions of love and affection. Greetings cards from the hilarious to the deeply romantic will be sent and this fine tradition of expressing love and intimacy will be at the heart of all the celebrations.

'Facebook' went down last week. Just after 6.30am last Tuesday the site displayed a message saying ' Sorry, something went wrong' and immediately there was something short of panic even though everything was back to normal in a very short time.

For once the term 'too big for his boots' is not just a term which is used to describe someone who needs to be brought down a peg or two. As we read in the local paper last week Carl Griffiths from Trimsaran has a real problem in getting rugby boots to play for his home team.

Black Friday came and went! Like the ghoulish antics of Halloween we have embraced another American tradition which is after our money! Held on the Friday following thanksgiving it's a day when most Americans are off work and free to fill the shopping malls.

We've just returned from a holiday in the USA. Our visit to the National Congress library in Washington was of special interest and especially the area devoted to the Civil rights movement of the 1960's.

From today tax disc which have been on our windscreens for over a hundred years will no longer needed. It's abolition in favour of a totally digital record of ensuring we've all paid our road tax begins today.
